1. Duke basketball recruiting prospect DJ Wagner

While the Blue Devils likely stand little chance to wind up with Camden (N.J.) five-star point guard DJ Wagner — in fact, chances are he turns down all college suitors and opts for the pro route — he has heard from the staff in Durham within the past week. When pairing that nugget with his top ranking in the class, the only fitting move is to put the heralded sensation No. 1 here as well.

Done.

In March, Travis Branham of 247Sports argued Wagner’s strong case to remain atop the rankings:

"“He stands 6-foot-3, 165 pounds, possessing positional size with long arms and a wiry frame. He’s an impressive athlete with an even more impressive skillset. Wagner fits the bill of the modern point guard, primarily with a score-first approach but also is a terrific passer with excellent vision, making him a dynamic playmaker as well as scorer.”"

Considering his namesake father, Dajuan Wagner, shined at Memphis 20 years ago under current Kentucky basketball head coach John Calipari, it wouldn’t be a shock to see younger Wagner end up in Lexington if he chooses to go the college route.

Nonetheless, Wagner’s sheer talent should be reason enough for the Blue Devils to keep in touch, at least for the time being.
