5. Duke basketball recruiting prospect Robert Dillingham

  • Point guard
  • 6-foot-1, 160 pounds
  • No. 11 overall on the 247Sports 2023 Composite

By most accounts, including the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Combine (N.C.) five-star point guard Robert Dillingham looks to be leaning toward playing eight miles down Tobacco Road from Duke as a member of the UNC basketball program. On the other hand, there’s nothing wrong with testing the waters in his recruitment, which the Blue Devils appear to be doing at the moment.

On Wednesday, Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers tweeted that “heavy interest” was coming from Durham. And Travis Branham of 247Sports later confirmed that Jon Scheyer made the initial Duke call.

Branham has ranked Dillingham as the No. 2 point guard in the class and gave the following explanation:

"“[Dillingham] is dynamic with the basketball in his hands. He’s shifty with high-level ball skills, able to create separation with ease before rising up and knocking down tough pull-up jumpers that few can consistently do at this stage of development.”"

The Tar Heels have already extended an offer to Dillingham. So will the Blue Devils soon follow suit in hopes of not having to face him at least twice? We shall see.
