- 6-foot-8, 185 pounds

On Sunday, multiple recruiting insiders tweeted that Gill St. Bernard’s (N.J.) five-star small forward Mackenzie Mgbako had become the second 2023 prospect to earn a Duke basketball offer, joining Kenwood (Ill.) five-star small forward JJ Taylor, who is coming up here in a couple of slides.
Surprisingly, the Blue Devils thus far appear to be one of the few bluebloods to have officially entered the recruitment.
Here’s what Dushawn London of 247Sports wrote about Mgbako’s game back in February:
"“247Sports has been able to watch Mgbako on multiple occasions where he shows to be an instant mismatch and the ability to score in a variety of ways along with guarding multiple positions.”"
And here’s what Mgbako told London regarding what he’s looking to improve upon in his game:
"“Being able to put the ball on the floor at my height and find the open man off the bounce. Also knocking down the shot from deep off the catch, and shooting off the dribble. Most definitely being able to use my body and create space between me and my defender. I’m looking to add to my arsenal, changing directions in areas where I get cut off…”"
A few months since making those comments, Mgbako now has a shot to become a Duke basketball player should he eventually accept the offer.
