A Duke basketball point guard has already made history before stepping on the court.

The four incoming Duke basketball freshmen have arrived in Durham, and summer workouts and classes have begun.

Paolo Banchero, Adrian Griffin Jr., and Trevor Keels receive all the headlines in the No. 4 ranked Class of 2021 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports.

However, after head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that the 2021-22 season would be his final year as the leader of the Blue Devils with Jon Scheyer being named as the head coach in waiting, it became clear that the Hall of Famer would not be recruiting anymore and that it would be Scheyer’s responsibility to begin building his team for next season.

So, what that means is that Jaylen Blakes was the final recruit in the head coaching career of Mike Krzyzewski.

Blakes committed to the Blue Devils on April 19 after Krzyzewski quickly jumped into his recruitment on April 12.

The 6-foot-2 point guard starred at Blair Academy, a powerhouse New Jersey prep school, and was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 101 player in the Class of 2021, No. 17 point guard, and No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Duke basketball rookies have finally hit the practice court

After moving in over the weekend, the Duke coaches and players have already been out on the floor for their first unofficial team workout of the summer as the Blue Devils still wait for the arrival of the remainder of their roster.

Duke is coming off its first missed NCAA Tournament since the 1994-95 season and the first missed Big Dance when Mike Krzyzewski was the head coach for the full season since 1982-83.

The Blue Devils will begin the 2021-22 season in Madison Square Garden against the Kentucky Wildcats, another team that stunningly missed the NCAA Tournament last season.
