Duke basketball: 3 signs that Patrick Baldwin Jr. is likely to land in Durham
The longest Duke basketball recruiting race is set to come to an end.
After much speculation surrounding the recruitment of Duke basketball target Patrick Baldwin Jr., he is finally set to announce his decision on Wednesday at 10:30am EST on SportsCenter, according to ESPN recruiting analyst Paul Biancardi.
Baldwin Jr. previously narrowed his options down to 10 schools but has since dwindled his choices to three: Duke, Georgetown, and Milwaukee.
The Blue Devils were once considered the heavy favorite to land the five-star prospect, but Milwaukee, behind head coach Pat Baldwin Sr., seemingly became the favorite over the winter before chatter around the recruitment came to a screeching halt.
There hasn’t been much movement around the Milwaukee program in the transfer portal and on the recruiting trail, meaning that if Baldwin Jr. will go and play for his father, he has kept it very close to the vest and did not try and lure any other prospects to Wisconsin.
Georgetown just continues to lurk as the Hoyas appeared to have some momentum early in the spring, but no concrete information emerged about head coach Patrick Ewing and his program as the “momentum” was pure internet speculation.
Should Duke basketball feel positive going into Tuesday’s announcement?
The feelings in Durham remain positive regardless of what Patrick Baldwin Jr. decides.
Mike Krzyzewski already has a Top-3 incoming recruiting class with Paolo Banchero, Adrian Griffin Jr., Trevor Keels, and Jaylen Blakes in addition to graduate transfers Theo John and Bates Jones.
After missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1994-95 season, the Blue Devils are already one of the favorites to cut down the nets next spring. But Duke could be the outright favorite should Baldwin Jr. announce he is joining The Brotherhood.
Are there signs that he will be coming to Durham? We shall discuss and give a prediction.
