Duke basketball: Ranking all 27 Blue Devils in the NBA this season
By Matt Giles
Ranking Duke basketball’s NBA players this season: No. 20 Jabari Parker
- Age: 26
- Current team: Boston Celtics (33-30)
- Games played this season: Nine
- Games started: Zero
- Season averages: 4.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.1 steals, 0.4 blocks
- Shooting percentages: 54.5 from the field, 0.0 beyond the arc, 75.0 from the foul line
The Sacramento Kings waived Jabari Parker at the trade deadline after playing the 2013-14 Duke basketball one-and-done all of two minutes across the previous four weeks. A few weeks later, the Boston Celtics took a chance on the former No. 2 overall draft pick with a two-year deal, giving the 6-foot-8, 245-pound power forward a chance to team up with fellow Blue Devil Jayson Tatum.
Between his six appearances with the Celtics, Parker has averaged only 5.2 points and 3.2 boards in 12.7 minutes per game, all coming off the bench. That said, the Chicago native has an opportunity to expand his role and maybe even serve as a key piece in Boston come playoff time.
Yet because he’s been on the floor in only nine total games this season, it would be difficult to justify ranking him any higher than No. 20 here.
