Ranking Duke basketball’s NBA players this season: No. 21 Harry Giles

  • Age: 23
  • Current team: Portland Trail Blazers (34-28)
  • Games played this season: 32
  • Games started: Zero
  • Season averages: 2.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.3 blocks
  • Shooting percentages: 41.5 from the field, 44.4 beyond the arc, 68.2 from the foul line

In this his third year as a pro, former Duke basketball one-and-done Harry Giles has experienced a decline in his minutes while producing career-low stats pretty much across the board. In fairness, however, the 6-foot-11, 240-pound is a member of a likely playoff team this year after spending his first two seasons with the lowly Sacramento Kings.

Although the former No. 20 overall draft pick from 2017 has rarely seen playing time in close games these past couple of months, he has proven to be a reliable rebounder when he is on the floor, averaging a career-high 13.6 boards per 36 minutes.

On the other hand, if Giles is unable to soon add more to his repertoire, then there’s really no guarantee he’ll be in the NBA beyond this season.
