Ranking Duke basketball’s NBA players this season: No. 22 Jahlil Okafor

  • Age: 25
  • Current team: Detroit Pistons (19-44)
  • Games played this season: 20
  • Games started: Zero
  • Season averages: 4.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.2 blocks
  • Shooting percentages: 60.1 from the field, 33.3 beyond the arc, 66.7 from the foul line

Former Blue Devil national champ Jahlil Okafor doesn’t see playing time in every Detroit Pistons game these days. But considering the former No. 3 overall draft pick from 2015 still sees the court on occasion despite a string of lackluster seasons with four different franchises, the 6-foot-10, 270-pound center is lucky to have this chance to potentially flip the script of his career.

In order for the Chicago native to earn an increased role in the future, though, one would think Okafor must become less of a liability on the defensive end. After all, with a sweet collection of post moves and a soft touch around the rim at his disposal, it’s not his offense that is blame for hampering his development in the league.
