By Matt Giles
Ranking Duke basketball’s NBA players this season: No. 15 JJ Redick
- Age: 36
- Current team: Dallas Mavericks (35-27)
- Games played this season: 40
- Games started: Zero
- Season averages: 8.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.1 blocks
- Shooting percentages: 40.8 from the field, 38.3 beyond the arc, 94.0 from the foul line
JJ Redick admitted to being displeased with the New Orleans Pelicans brass for trading him to the Dallas Mavericks leading up to March’s trade deadline. No, the Duke basketball legend had hoped to land somewhere close to his family in Brooklyn for the final stage of what has thus far been a 15-year NBA career.
Likely adding to Redick’s frustration, across the nine games that the 6-foot-3 shooting specialist has played for the Mavericks to date, he’s yet to see more than 20 minutes or score more than 10 points. That said, although his combined shooting percentages and overall production have dipped from recent seasons, he’s knocked down 48.1 percent of his 3-point attempts with Dallas.
