Ranking Duke basketball’s NBA players this season: No. 17 Frank Jackson

  • Age: 22
  • Current team: Detroit Pistons (19-44)
  • Games played this season: 34
  • Games started: Four
  • Season averages: 9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.0 blocks
  • Shooting percentages: 46.9 from the field, 40.5 beyond the arc, 81.0 from the foul line

While it’s encouraging to see 2016-17 Duke basketball one-and-done Frank Jackson now playing consistent minutes and putting up a career-high scoring average this season, we must remember that the 6-foot-3 backup point guard is doing so for a Detroit Pistons team that currently sits dead last in the Eastern Conference standings.

Nevertheless, his outside stroke has clearly improved. And Jackson’s production appears to be steadily growing in his new home after playing two seasons for the New Orleans Pelicans. In April, the former second-round draft pick has averaged 11.9 points, scoring 20 points in two of his past six outings.
