Former Duke basketball standout Grayson Allen was injured in a Memphis Grizzlies victory.

It was a quick night in Houston for former Duke basketball standout Grayson Allen as the former Blue Devil was injured in the opening minutes against the Houston Rockets on Monday.

Allen was back in the starting lineup for the Memphis Grizzlies (22-22) but only logged seven minutes in the 120-110 victory after trying to block a layup from Daniel House with about six minutes left in the first quarter.

However, after missing on the block, Allen landed hard on his side, shortly thereafter leaving the game as he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game with hip soreness.

Grayson Allen picked up two points, three rebounds, and one assist prior to the injury in seven minutes.

Following the game, Memphis head coach Taylor Jenkins said Allen was doing well and there was nothing severe that was shown on the ensuing X-ray.

The Grizzlies have not set a timetable for a return to the court for Grayson Allen, and he has yet to be ruled out for Wednesday’s rematch against the Utah Jazz.

Allen had just returned to the court after a concussion suffered in early March after previously missing time this season due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Grayson Allen suffered a hip injury last year, which looked like it was going to keep him out for the remainder of the season, but the former National Champion returned to the court amid the resumption of the season after the COVID-19 suspension.
