Ranking the 11 Duke basketball contributors through 11 games
By Matt Giles
7. Duke basketball freshman forward Jaemyn Brakefield
GAME AVERAGES: 13.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.4 blocks, 0.4 turnovers, 1.4 fouls
SHOOTING PERCENTAGES: 44.7 percent from the field, 42.1 percent from beyond the arc, 50.0 percent from the foul line
SEASON-HIGH STATS: 27 minutes at Virginia Tech on Jan. 12, 12 points vs. Bellarmine on Dec. 4, six rebounds vs. Bellarmine, two assists vs. Wake Forest on Jan. 9, three steals vs. Wake Forest, one block (four times), one turnover (four times), three fouls (twice)
OVERALL ASSESSMENT: Back in December, Jaemyn Brakefield was surprisingly effective as he always seemed to be looking to make something happen. On the other hand, his lateral movement has always been lacking, and his defense has often been lackluster as a result. Now, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound former four-star hasn’t played more than five minutes in any of the past three games.
CURRENT GRADE: 79 (C+)
