By Matt Giles
11. Duke basketball junior forward Joey Baker
SEASON AVERAGES: 11.8 minutes, 1.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.5 blocks, 1.1 turnovers, 1.3 fouls
SHOOTING PERCENTAGES: 25.9 percent from the field, 18.8 percent from beyond the arc, 66.7 percent from the foul line
SEASON-HIGH STATS: 17 minutes at Louisville on Jan. 23, four points vs. Illinois on Dec. 8, four rebounds vs. Coppin State on Nov. 28, one assist (thrice), four steals vs. Michigan State on Dec. 1, three blocks at Virginia Tech on Jan. 12, three turnovers at Pitt on Jan. 19, five fouls vs. Michigan State
OVERALL ASSESSMENT: Relative to expectations, Joey Baker has been a bit of a dud in his third year at Duke. However, to be fair, the 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing has exhibited hustle and hints of leadership, often serving as a magnet for floor burns. But his poor on-ball defense continues to be a magnet for opponents’ points. And his outside jumper has been nothing more than a clunker.
CURRENT GRADE: 71 (C-)
