Duke basketball’s offensive grade for Week 3 of ACC play: C

As a collective this week, Duke basketball put on one of its worst offensive performances of the season. As a team that usually doubles its efficiency in the second half, the Blue Devils did the exact opposite.

Their field goal percentage from the first half to the second decreased by over 10 percent, to bring their game average to 40.0 percent. The Blue Devils also uncharacteristically lacked in bench production in this matchup, offering only six points to the starters.

From three, they’ve been struggling for the past few games. Though eight made threes sounds like a fantastic amount, their struggle from behind the arc shows in the percentages.

In total, Duke shot 27.6 percent from three against the Hokies, going 8-for-29. The Blue Devils are taking an insane amount of shots for what they are making — an average of 23.9 attempts per game while shooting 34.0 percent — exposing their lack of efficiency and experience.
