A Duke basketball father made a startling demand regarding his son’s current situation.

There have been some passionate Duke basketball parents in recent years, but a handful stick out above the rest.

One parent that was always a fixture, whether it be at games or on social media, was Marvin Bagley Jr., the father of Mavin Bagley III, and that has translated to the NBA.

Bagley Jr. tweeted, then deleted, a plea for a trade for his son from the Sacramento Kings during a recent loss to the Houston Rockets.

After what was a stellar rookie year where the former Blue Devil was named as an All-Rookie selection, injuries plagued Bagley III through his second season, limiting him to only 13 games both in the regular season and the restarted season.

This season, Marvin Bagley III is averaging 10.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game on 35.8-percent shooting from the field and 26.7-percent from 3-point range.

However, the trade speculation does not stop at the Bagley family as the father of De’Aaron Fox, a teammate of Marvin Bagley on the Kings, also called for Sacramento to dump the former No. 2 overall pick.

There is bad blood between Marvin Bagley Jr. and Aaron Fox, so it’s not surprising to see the point guard’s father lobby for the forward to be traded.

Duke basketball star with a lot of pressure on his shoulders

Given the fact that Marvin Bagley III was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, selected before All-Star’s Luka Doncic and Trae Young, the pressure is mounting for him to develop into a star for the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento haș not made the playoffs since the 2005-06 season and has not finished better than No. 9 in the Western Conference, with the 2018-19 campaign outstanding.

Given the delay in the 2020-21 season, the NBA Trading Deadline is now March 25.

Marvin Bagley III and the Sacramento Kings (3-4) will host Bagley’s former star teammate at Duke, Wendell Carter Jr., and the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night (10:00pm EST).
