Duke basketball Key to Victory No. 2: More balanced scoring attack

Duke was led by Jalen Johnson and DJ Steward in its season-opening win against Coppin State, and that’s all well and good, but the Blue Devils are going to need to rely on more players to help shoulder the load.

Sophomores Wendell Moore and Matthew Hurt helped with 13 and 12 points, respectively, and those were the only four players who scored more than six points.

Creating a balanced attack would only open more space in the halfcourt for Duke to let Johnson and Steward go to work, something the Blue Devils need because their halfcourt offense is still a work in progress for Mike Krzyzewski‘s squad.

Facing a veteran team, there will not be many easy chances to score, so Duke must spread the ball and keep Michigan State guessing each time down the floor.
