Grading the play of Duke basketball senior Jordan Goldwire
The stat line of Jordan Goldwire vs. Coppin State: In 24 minutes on the court, the senior combo guard finished with two points, one rebound, four assists, two steals, one block, three turnovers, and three fouls while shooting 1-for-5 from the field, including an 0-for-3 mark from beyond the arc.
The evaluation of Jordan Goldwire vs. Coppin State: In the first few minutes of the game against Coppin State, Jordan Goldwire portrayed the look of a leader. He was directing the flow, noticeably encouraging his fellow starters to go all out on defense and then to push the ball up the floor on offense as the Eagles jumped out to an early lead.
And the 6-foot-2, 185-pound former three-star was encouraging in the way he effectively drove and kicked to open teammates, particularly three minutes in when Goldwire found a slashing Matthew Hurt for an open dunk.
But on a sour note, Goldwire’s 3-point shot didn’t look much cleaner than it has in the past. And though he wound up with a couple of takeaways, he also gave the ball away a few times as his playmaking prowess became less apparent as the game wore on.
The final grade for Jordan Goldwire vs. Coppin State: 84 (B)
