Predicting the final score of the eighth Duke basketball game this season

Opponent: Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Date: Dec. 16

Time: To be announced

Location: South Bend, Ind. (Purcell Pavilion)

Notre Dame’s record last season: 20-12 (10-10 in ACC)

Head coach: Mike Brey (536-285 overall record in 25 seasons as a head coach, including a 437-233 clip in 20 seasons at Notre Dame)

Why Duke will lose: The trip to Notre Dame is these Blue Devils’ first game away from Cameron Indoor Stadium. Add in the fact that in the seven seasons since the Fighting Irish entered the ACC, Duke has left two of its four visits to South Bend, Ind., with a loss in tow. Plus, it’s important to remember that Mike Brey, once an assistant under Mike Krzyzewski, beat his former boss in five of six meetings from 2014 to 2016. Brey & Co. is due for this big-time W at home.

Predicted final score: Notre Dame 81, Duke 76

Duke’s predicted overall record to date: 5-3 (0-1 in ACC)
