Predicting the final score of the 12th Duke basketball game this season

Opponent: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Date: Jan. 9

Time: To be announced

Location: Durham, N.C. (Cameron Indoor Stadium)

Wake Forest’s record last season: 13-18 (6-14 in ACC)

Head coach: Steve Forbes (130-43 overall record in five seasons as a coach, now entering his first season at Wake Forest)

Why Duke will win: With four losses and looking to be on the brink of falling apart as a team, the young Blue Devils will take out their frustrations at home against the Demon Deacons, who return only 27.2 percent of their scoring from a year ago and will still be in process of adapting to Steve Forbes’ system. Look for this to be the point when Duke rights the ship, disposing of Wake Forest in a dominant fashion while displaying a cohesiveness that could be a sign of what’s to come.

Predicted final score: Duke 99, Wake Forest 72

Duke’s predicted overall record to date: 8-4 (3-2 in ACC)
