Why Duke basketball’s Tre Jones fell in the draft: LIMITED UPSIDE

While Tre Jones certainly has the advantage of playing in big games and being a winner, his upside is limited in comparison to the high draft picks. He just does not have the physical tools that the high draft picks possess.

Jones will likely never become a consistent 20-point scorer in the NBA. He will likely never be a player that an NBA franchise would want to center the team around. He is honestly more of a player who can star in his own role rather than be the star of the squad.

The fact Jones is also a pure point guard and not a player who can slide to the two-spot also probably hurt his draft stock. He is seen as too small to be a reliable off-the-ball player at the next level. He also is not a player you draw up a play for and count on him to go get a bucket.

That is just not his game.
