Marcus Storman has accepted his qualifying offer from the New York Mets.

The short and complicated history between Marcus Stroman and the New York Mets will continue as the former Blue Devil has accepted his qualifying offer.

Stroman, who seemed to be excited to be a free agent only weeks ago, never hit the open market as he re-signs with the Mets for one year, worth $18.9 million.

Pretty solid reason to go anywhere for a season, right?

Marcus Stroman also cited his appreciation for Mets new owner Steve Cohen on social media as the multi-billionaire held his introductory press conference earlier in the week, which gave a new, positive outlook on the franchise that has suffered heartbreak far too often.

The 29-year-old officially signed his qualifying offer on Sunday, November 15, but he did not play during the 2020 season as he was with the team, rehabbing an injury and preparing for his first start of the season. He then opted out over COVID-19 concerns.

Many speculated that Stroman’s time with the team would be over, but the value of his qualifying offer was too much to pass on as the Major League Baseball free agency market suggests the starting pitcher would never get that much as an unrestricted free agent.

Marcus Stroman never envisioned playing for the New York Mets.

Stroman was traded to the Mets from the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2019 Trading Deadline as the pitcher was disgruntled at the fact that he was shipped to Queens instead of the Bronx to join the New York Yankees.

Since then, Stroman has started a Twitter war against the Yankees and General Manager Brian Cashman, and he will have at least one more season in New York to show the Bronx Bombers what they missed out on.

In his half-season with the Mets, Marcus Stroman started 11 games, posting a 4-2 record with a 3.77 ERA and allowing 65 hits in 59 and two-thirds innings.
