Duke basketball program announces date for Countdown
By Matt Giles
A Duke basketball motion picture will be available to the public this week.
Since 2009, Countdown to Craziness has served as an introduction to each new Duke basketball team and a celebration of the program as a whole.
Understandably, the 2020 rendition will be drastically different. In fact, it won’t be an event at all.
Besides, the Blue Devils, who begin the 2020-21 season at No. 9 in the AP Top 25, have already held a series of Blue-White scrimmages.

And these game-like intrasquad battles typically constitute the feature portion of the annual showcase in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Rather, Countdown to Craziness this year will just be a movie, aptly titled Countdown: The Movie. Per a recent tweet from the program, fans will have their chance to catch the flick on Friday (details about the exact time and viewing platform are still to come).
So what can Duke basketball supporters expect to see?
Now, fans still have no real clues as to what all the movie will include. But considering Duke’s creative team is the best in the biz when it comes to producing social media content — evident in the fact it has garnered more combined followers across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube than any other program — one can assume it’ll be an entertaining viewing experience.
The players were lucky enough to attend an exclusive premiere on Friday night and certainly appeared hyped about it beforehand:
Plus, judging from the picture in the tweet below, it’s obvious that sophomore stretch-four Matthew Hurt, freshman forward Henry Coleman, freshman center Mark Williams, and second-year walk-on guard Michael Savarino found at least one scene to be worthy of a laugh-out-loud reaction:
Duke will begin its 41st campaign under Hall of Fame head coach Mike Krzyzewski at home on Nov. 25 against Gardner-Webb (still no word on a time or channel for the game).
