Question No. 4 for the 2020-21 Duke basketball team…

How much did the returning Blue Devils learn from their experiences last season?

Jordan Goldwire, Joey Baker, Matthew Hurt, and Wendell Moore are all nice fellas. Despite relatively inconsistent minutes last season from one game to the next, they all refrained from throwing public temper tantrums, and they all decided to come back to Durham. So we can at least say with some certainty that they all subscribe to a program-first mentality.

Coupling all that with their apparent willingness in the offseason to refine their skillsets and upgrade their frames, they all now exhibit leadership potential (the program still hasn’t named team captains for this season).

Let’s be totally honest, though. Last season, all four often put their flaws on full display. Goldwire’s wide array of obvious limitations on offense. Baker’s limited handles and, though passionate, his weak defense. Hurt’s lack of alertness and confidence at times. Moore’s indecisiveness and inaccurate shooting stroke. How many of the above issues are in the past?…
