Former Duke football star Daniel Jones was not able to outduel Tom Brady on Monday Night Football.

It was just about the same story for former Duke football standout Daniel Jones as he faced Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

Jones, who has only defeated two opponents as a starting quarterback in his NFL career, was looking for another victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the first team Jones picked up a victory against last season.

However, this time, turnovers cost Jones and the New York Giants a chance to win as the former Blue Devil threw two interceptions in Tampa Bay’s 25-23 victory.

Despite Jones’ poor play in missing wide-open receivers downfield all night long, the former first-round pick led the Giants down the field in the final two minutes to try and tie the game and force overtime.

Jones came up with multiple fourth-down conversions on the game’s final drive before throwing his best pass of the night to Golden Tate in the end zone, which set the Giants up with an all-important two-point conversion.

Daniel Jones had Dion Lewis wide open in the flat to tie the game, but his pass was late and behind Lewis, falling incomplete.

However, a flag was thrown for a potential pass inference, but after consultation, the referees picked up the penalty marker, ultimately ending the game.

Jones completed 25-of-41 passes for 256 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while rushing three times for 20 yards.

Where does the Duke football star go from here?

Well, lucky for Daniel Jones, he gets to play a franchise he has dominated in his career next Sunday with the Washington Football Team.
