Halloween costume for Duke basketball wing Joey Baker…

LUKE KENNARD (2015-17)

I thought about going with JJ Redick for this one, but some guys are truly in a league of their own. For junior Joey Baker, Luke Kennard is a much more attainable former player to emulate.

Just like Kennard, we knew Baker could spot up and shoot when he arrived at Duke. He has a pure shooting stroke and has upped his consistency. He played in only four games as a freshman. But with a full sample of 28 games last year, he averaged 5.0 points and shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Kennard went from averaging 11.8 points to 19.5 points a game in his two years at Duke, but the shooting guard was clearly the No. 1 option in his final season. He improved his mid-range game and became a much better driver of the basketball.

It’s that all-around game that Joey Baker needs to copy in order to possibly crack the starting lineup and make a difference for the Blue Devils…
