The greatest strength of Duke basketball senior guard Jordan Goldwire…

ON-BALL DEFENSE

If it wasn’t for Tre Jones being an all-time on-ball defender, more people would be talking about how effective Jordan Goldwire is at defending opposing ballhandlers.

Goldwire is a pest on the defensive side of the ball. He is like one of those annoying gnats that fly around your face. It doesn’t matter how many times you swat it away. It keeps coming back. The senior from Georgia has proven to be great at getting up and into opposing ballhandlers, making it difficult for them to operate comfortably with the ball in their hands.

Like Wendell Moore, Goldwire has tremendous length and lateral speed to keep opposing players in front and to come up with steals and deflections. He was second among Blue Devils last year in steals with 1.5 per game, which was ninth-best in the ACC.

Defensive prowess is not the specialty of this next returning Duke basketball player…
