Former Duke football quarterback Daniel Jones is under investigation by the NFL for potentially breaking COVID-19 protocols.

Things have not been great for former Duke football quarterback Daniel Jones this season on the field with the New York Giants, and the Blue Devil is now in hot water off the field.

Following New York’s 22-21 loss on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones, running back Saquon Barkley, and others were photographed out to dinner, without wearing masks, in a New York City restaurant and bar, potentially a violation of the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

According to multiple reports, after the group’s dinner, the Giants were invited to a private bar, which is not open to the public, by the bar’s owner.

Photos and videos from the appearance by the team at the bar first surfaced late Friday night and early Saturday morning as ‘DJ Lugghead’ on Instagram first posted a picture of him, Jones, and Barkley unmasked.

The caption of the photo was “Rockin wit Danny dimes and Saquon” and has since been deleted. The DJ has claimed that the photo was taken last year and it was posted to his feed as a memory.

Other photos have also surfaced from the night, including Jones sharing a drink with an unknown female and a video which appears to be Barkley riding a bicycle.

Saquon Barkley is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL on September 20 and is awaiting surgery on October 29.

The New York Giants released a statement saying they were aware of the situation and would be looking into it, and reports have been released that the team will not discipline its players, but that doesn’t mean the NFL could not come down hard on the group.

Most recently, members of the Oakland Raiders, including quarterback Derek Carr, were fined for appearing at a teammate’s charity event unmasked.

Given the potential hardships this event could have created for the league and the Giants, it will be interesting to see if Daniel Jones and his teammates will be fined for this incident, if proven to be true by the NFL.
