Former Duke baseball standout Marcus Stroman torched the New York Yankees on Twitter as he awaits his free agency.

Things have clearly turned for the worse regarding Marcus Stroman and the New York Yankees.

Two seasons ago when the Toronto Blue Jays were looking to trade their star pitcher, Stroman had one destination in mind — New York.

And not just New York, but specifically 1 East 161st Street in The Bronx.

However, the Yankees were not willing to part with all the prospects Toronto was asking for, but their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets, were, and the Blue Jays shipped the All-Star off to Queens.

Michael Kay, the play-by-play broadcaster for the Yankees, said that sources told him Stroman threw a fit when he was told he was traded to the Mets as the Yankees were his preferred destination.

Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman then said following that trading deadline that the organization did not view Stroman as a “difference maker” and if you know anything about Stroman, he did not take kindly to that.

In his half a season with the Mets, Stroman did not face the Yankees, and after hamstring injuries in 2020, the former Blue Devil opted out of the season and is now set to become a free agent following the conclusion of the World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

In a tweet from Barstool Sports’ Jared Carrabis, he expressed that he believes Stroman will be the steal of the offseason for any team, and Stroman agreed. But then Yankee fans flooded the comments, and Stroman couldn’t put down the phone.

Sometimes, it is just smarter to close the app and get on with your day. But credit to Marcus Stroman, for he seemed like he tried to back down from his original statement, yet it is still hard to imagine this will help him become a Yankee.

Since this series of tweets on Wednesday afternoon, Stroman has continued to address the topic in replies to various fans on Twitter.

Unless he signs with the New York Yankees, Marcus Stroman will hopefully ink a deal with a team that faces the Bronx Bombers in 2021 so that the former Blue Devil can put his money and ability where his mouth is.
