Former Duke football quarterback Daniel Jones was unable to deliver in the clutch for the New York Giants.

Daniel Jones and the New York Giants had a chance to briefly silence the haters and critics with a victory over their arch NFC East rival on Sunday.

However, the second-year quarterback and once-proud franchise were unable to come through and deliver for their fanbase in the fourth quarter against the Dallas Cowboys.

In a game that was marred because of the catastrophic and gruesome injury to Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott, Jones had the chance to be the hero for the Giants. But with the ball and 1:50 to go in regulation, the Giants went five plays for 15 yards and only ate one minute and five seconds off the clock before giving the ball back to Dallas.

Back-up quarterback Andy Dalton led the Cowboys on a five-play, 72-yard drive in 52 seconds for a game-winning field goal as Dallas picked up its second win of the season, 37-34.

However, it was a game where Daniel Jones had the chance to break through against a poor defense, but the former Blue Devil was unable to get anything going.

Jones completed 20-of-33 passes for 222 yards and one fumble, and it was the fourth straight game where he did not have a passing touchdown with at least one turnover.

Since opening night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Daniel Jones has completed 85-of-141 passes for 832 yards, no passing touchdown, three interceptions, and three fumbles.

Clearly, the Giants are not helping their young quarterback out with their offensive line play and injuries to All-Pro running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Sterling Shepard, but Jones also has to play better if he wants to quiet the rumblings for the team to draft Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence this spring.

New York will now have perhaps its most winnable game this season against the Washington Football Team on Sunday, October 18 at 1:00pm EST from MetLife Stadium, and the game can be seen on FOX.
