The Brotherhood of the Duke basketball program continues to show outside the city limits of Durham, North Carolina.

Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum are more than just former teammates with the Boston Celtics. They are friends and products of Mike Krzyzewski, the Duke basketball program, and The Brotherhood.

With Tatum still in Boston and Irving in Brooklyn on the Nets, the two still remain in close contact, specifically with the first-time All-Star and his Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in Orlando, Florida inside the NBA’s bubble.

More from Ball Durham

Jayson Tatum recently revealed to Shams Charania that he and Irving talk frequently, multiple times since the restarted season began, and the elder Blue Devil serves as a mentor to the young NBA star.

Tatum said that Irving conveyed the message that he is a superstar and this is his time to shine and to embrace the role of being the leader and best player on the Celtics going forward.

There has been very little question who is taking charge for Boston in the playoffs as Jayson Tatum has already set three postseason career highs as the Celtics look to make the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in the last three seasons.

Many considered Irving to be a problem inside the Celtics locker room as the team failed to meet its preseason expectations, and his ‘diva’ persona only was heightened when players started talking about a boycott due to the social and racial injustices across the United States.

Despite not being able to participate in the resumed season because of injuries, Irving was one of the main leaders that cautioned players in June about jumping right into play again as the league needs to serve as a model for racial equality.

Fans are eager to see a healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the floor next season, but the Duke faithful are set to see Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Saturday evening against the Toronto Raptors at 6:30pm EST on TNT.
