The projected 2021-22 Duke basketball players: DJ Steward

Scouting Report. 6-foot-3. 175 pounds. DJ Steward. G. player. 434. Pick Analysis

  • Peak composite ranking for DJ Steward in high school: No. 18
  • Current status: Set to debut as a Blue Devil in the upcoming season
  • In 2021-22: Would be a Duke basketball sophomore
  • Date of birth: Oct. 2, 2001

Seeing that DJ Steward has a shot to be one of the leading scorers this season, one can imagine how potent the 6-foot-3 combo guard might become on offense by the time he’s a sophomore in Durham. Granted, of the six players in Duke’s 2020 class, the Chicago native sits among the top three in terms of one-and-done likelihood. Nevertheless, expect him back for 2021-22.

Adding to Steward’s prowess as a long-distance sniper and aggressive slasher, he would provide the 2021-22 Blue Devils with a reliable secondary ballhandler. Plus, after a year under Mike Krzyzewski’s tutelage, taking into account his athleticism and energy on the floor, he’s likely to have developed into a staunch defender on the perimeter. Moving on to another backcourt star…
