The projected 2021-22 Duke basketball players: Jaemyn Brakefield

  • Peak composite ranking for Jaemyn Brakefield in high school: No. 2
  • Current status: Set to debut as a Blue Devil in the upcoming season
  • In 2021-22: Would be a Duke basketball sophomore
  • Date of birth: Dec. 19, 2000

Jaemyn Brakefield, who started out at No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2020 Composite but finished at No. 41, could be the most underrated piece to the 2020-21 Duke basketball roster. Those who subscribe to that train of thought, of course, should then have no problem envisioning the versatile 6-foot-8 power forward in a starring role as a sophomore for the 2021-22 squad.

That said, Brakefield will have to face daunting competition for minutes in his upcoming rookie campaign and then will surely have to do the same his next go-round. Yet assuming he does stick around, as predicted here, the three-time West Virginia Gatorade High School Player of the Year could serve as either a starter or crucial spark plug off the bench for the 2021-22 Blue Devils.
