The projected 2021-22 Duke basketball players: Joey Baker

6-foot-7. Joey Baker. F. player. Scouting Report. 210 pounds. 434. Pick Analysis

  • Peak 247Sports Composite ranking for Joey Baker in high school: No. 31
  • Current status: Set to begin his junior campaign as a Blue Devil in the upcoming season
  • In 2021-22: Would be a Duke basketball senior
  • Date of birth: Sept. 13, 2000

Yes, the 2021-22 Duke roster looks to be the first one without a player born before the year 2000. And it seems a little funny to have Joey Baker as the oldest member of the bunch considering it seems like just yesterday that the 6-foot-7, 210-pound four-star small forward arrived in Durham alongside four highly touted five-stars in Zion Williamson, RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish, and Tre Jones.

But Baker has already exhibited leadership qualities in his first two campaigns as a Blue Devil, even if primarily from the bench. This season, he’ll try to build upon his 39.4 percent from 3-point land as a sophomore while likely initiating Duke’s patented floor slap like he did last season. And by the time his senior year rolls around, he indeed stands to be an experienced, useful weapon.
