Duke basketball coaches provided updates on looming 2020-21 season
The Duke basketball coaches, Mike Krzyzewski and Kara Lawson, each provided their own updates on the 2020-21 college basketball season.
College basketball fans around the world are waiting with bated breath for an official decision regarding the 2020-21 season as college football was dealt a blow with the cancelation from a handful of conferences and the delayed start of play in several others.
However, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Duke have been conducting workouts in a safe and responsible manner.
Both teams reported to campus on August 2, and following immediate testing and subsequent testing done every week, there have been no issues with the virus from the Blue Devils.

Kara Lawson, the new head coach of the women’s program, went on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt on Friday night to give her thoughts on a host of topics, most notably the 2020-21 season, Mike Krzyzewski, Pat Summit, and the recent social justice protest held outside of Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Krzyzewski, appearing in a video from the Duke Men’s Basketball Twitter account, provided much more details on how his team is dealing with the certain restrictions that had to be put in place because of the virus.

In the final episode of the season on his weekly Sirius XM Radio show, the Hall of Fame coach had Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, as a guest.

However, perhaps the most telling and optimistic comment that Krzyzewski had in his update was “our goal is to play, our goal is to have you [Duke fans] watch us, and cheer, and have a great season.”
Coach K said that he, the team, and the college basketball team should know more in mid-September when the season and practices can start, but he seems eager to get this campaign rolling as the Blue Devils should have yet another National Championship caliber team.
