Senior. Erick Green. 7. player. 447. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2012-13

The seventh-best ACC season since 2010 occurred in Blacksburg shortly following the Hokies’ entrance into the conference. Erick Green’s 2012-13 season is the second oldest on this list of 10. Green played from 2009 to 2013 in the backcourt for Virginia Tech. As a freshman, he averaged just 2.6 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. Those numbers yield an average of only 5.8 points per game.

By his senior season, the ACC Player of the Year improved to 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. At 25.0 points per game, Green was first in the ACC and first in the nation in scoring average. Those gaudy numbers totaled 38.6 fantasy points per game, just 0.3 points ahead of Ky Bowman.

Unfortunately, James Johnson’s first season as head coach in Blacksburg was not helped much by Green’s performance as the Hokies finished 13-19 overall and just 4-14 in conference play. Green is only the second ACC POY in conference history to play for a team with a losing record.
