Four features of Duke basketball’s Cassius Stanley say he’ll soar as a pro.
Cassius Stanley came into last season as Duke basketball’s lowest-ranked 2019 recruit. Judging from high school tapes, it was unclear how his game would translate to the college level since most of his highlights were dunks. Stanley, however, quickly showed that he was more than just a dunker and a guy who would be a key part of the 2019-20 Blue Devils. Now, the 20-year-old is gearing up for a pro career.
It is safe to say that the 2020 NBA Draft will be an absolute crapshoot. The draft is hard enough to get right as is, but with all the unique circumstances, this year’s edition will be harder to predict than ever.

With the abrupt ending to this past college basketball season, guys had less opportunity to prove themselves and raise their draft stock. The NBA has also yet to reschedule the combine, and it is unclear at this point if it will even be happening. Plus, it does not seem that NBA teams will be able to hold individual workouts and in-person interviews. And the 2020 draft pool was underwhelming, to begin with.
There is no clearcut No. 1 pick like there usually is, and quite a few of the projected top picks are guys we didn’t even see much of in college. So this could be the draft where teams take more chances than usual. Guys with potential and upside may be favored over guys who can make an immediate impact, which could bode well for Duke basketball’s Cassius Stanley.
