Former Duke basketball standout Grayson Allen proved once again that he is on track for NBA stardom with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The highly critiqued and criticized Grayson Allen has been quietly going about his business inside the NBA bubble as the Memphis Grizzlies continue to fight for its playoff life.

Without former Blue Devils Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow available because of knee and hip injuries, respectively, Allen has been picking up the slack for his sidelined Dukies and has proven to the NBA community that he is on track to be a future star in the league.

Allen had a slow start to the restarted season, if you would call it that, as in his first game since January because of a hip injury he only contributed five points, two rebounds, and one steal on 2-of-4 shooting in 22 minutes.

Since that game on July 31 against the Portland Trail Blazers, it has been anything but slow for the former National Champion.

The 6-foot-4 guard dropped 15 points on the San Antonio Spurs on August 2 with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and his worst game so far from beyond the arc in 2-of-6 shooting from 3-point range.

Allen then went for 17 points the following day against the New Orleans Pelicans on 6-of-10 shooting, 5-of-6 from 3-point territory, to go along with one rebound, two assists, and one steal.

In the most recent game for the Grizzlies, the former Duke star exploded for 20 points, two rebounds, and one assist on 7-of-10 shooting, 6-of-8 from 3-point territory.

Despite the heroic performances of Grayson Allen, the Memphis Grizzlies have yet to win a game in the NBA’s restarted season and are clinging to a one-game lead as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

However, as players such as Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. get all the headlines for being the young core of the Grizzlies, Grayson Allen is right there with them as one of the young players on this team destined for NBA stardom.

Memphis still has four games left in the regular season, none of which are easy on paper, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, and Milwaukee Bucks.

The Grizzlies and Thunder will tipoff at 4:00pm EST on Friday, August 7 on NBATV.
