Instant-offense Duke basketball lineup: THE SPOT-UP SPECIALIST

Granted, unless the admirably energetic Joey Baker has overhauled his dribbling skills during quarantine, Duke could suffer in the long run with the Fayetteville product at the two-guard. No worries, for this is just a proposed lineup for unique situations; plus, each player to come here comes with solid handles as part of his repertoire.

What Baker has shown the potential to do, though, is drain one 3-pointer after another with minimal misses in between. As a sophomore last season, though he averaged a measly 5.0 points across 12.1 minutes per game, his accuracy from downtown finished at an impressive 39.4 percent — not to mention his 91.7 percent clip from the charity stripe — and included his 5-for-7 mark from beyond the arc against Wofford in December, anchoring his career-high 22 points:

No doubt buckets like those above from Joey Buckets could be critical next go-round. Sure, the 2020-21 candidate for captaincy will probably still have to pick his spots — a nice way of saying he struggles to create his own shot — but that shortcoming wouldn’t be a problem considering some of the creators who would be surrounding him in this group, especially this next guy…
