Four leading contenders for Duke basketball target Trevor Keels: Blue Devils

434. . . . Blue Devils . 2. team

Shortly after attending what ended up being the 2019-20 Duke basketball team’s final game, an 89-76 win at home over rival North Carolina, Trevor Keels gushed about his experience to SI recruiting insider Jason Jordan:

“The environment at Duke was crazy. It was even better than people say. I talked to Coach K after the game, and he was just telling me about the game plan that night and talking to me about how I’d be used there. I had a great time.”

In the time since the unofficial visit from Keels, Duke basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski and his assistants have not appeared to let off the gas. But speaking of time, Corey Evans of Rivals opined on Wednesday that the Blue Devils could use plenty more of it in order to get the sharpshooter back on campus for an official visit:

“Keels has not shown his hand as far as when he might commit, potentially because he is hoping that he could visit a few of his suitors before deciding. That could only help Duke, North Carolina, and a number of others.”

Evans has also noticed a couple of other signs possibly pointing to Keels landing in Durham:

“The Blue Devils offered Keels following a dominant two-game stretch in December…there were even whispers that he could be close to committing…They just missed on Max Christie, but in actuality, Duke laid off recruiting the five-star in recent weeks and has ramped things up with Keels, who may fit its system and personnel better because of his size and shooting prowess. Does Duke freshman Jeremy Roach, Keels’ former school and travel teammate, help Duke’s pursuit? Time will tell, but it cannot hurt.”
