Ranking the top 10 for Duke basketball target Charles Bediako: Texas

467. . . . Longhorns . 9. team

Texas head coach Shaka Smart, who has shown the capacity to put big men in the NBA across his five seasons in Austin, may have an appealing roster to Charles Bediako in terms of available playing time upon the center’s arrival next year. But as Eric Bossi of Rivals recently hinted at, the Longhorns recruiting team may lack the necessary firepower and efforts to get the job done:

“Jericho Sims leaving will open up a lot of minutes during the 2021-22 season…the Horns are targeting Bediako to fill some of them. Jarrett Allen and Mohamed Bamba have proven to have early success under Shaka Smart before going to the NBA…that is a selling point…[Texas] is kind of hanging on and still has a lot of work to do for a good shot here.”

Add to that the fact Smart has thus far put together pretty much only disappointing campaigns at Texas — two NCAA Tournament appearances but zero Big Dance wins — and it seems the appeal of the Longhorns to Bediako is likely relatively minimal at this point…
