Duke basketball: Sizing up the 10 finalists for five-star big man
By Matt Giles
Ranking the top 10 for Duke basketball target Charles Bediako: Southern Cal
Andy Enfield, now eight years into his stint as Southern Cal head coach, has certainly seen impressive success on the recruiting trail of late, reeling in a combined four five-star prospects across the past three cycles. Ian Mumm of Busting Brackets recently broke down what the Trojans have been doing right:
“The Southern Cal program is building something special in 2020, with a large influx of talent and the No. 3 overall recruit in Evan Mobley. Andy Enfield has not had many issues recruiting talent to the Trojans, especially strong frontcourt players. Mobley, Onyeka Okongwu, and Nick Rakocevic are recent examples just from the last two years that have helped to brighten the program’s spotlight.”
And Mumm continued with a look at what Bediako might like seeing in Los Angeles:
“Bediako can trust in the proven track record of centers playing well under Enfield. The Trojans are a team filled with athletic backcourt players but still feed the ball into the post at a high rate…Mobley’s expected departure from the program prior to 2021 will ensure Bediako can come onto the team immediately and fill this role for the Trojans.”
All that said, most of the top recruits that Enfield lands either come from or play high school ball in California.
