Any day now? Another couple of months? In time for the fall signing period? Wait until winter? Maybe even as late as spring? Right now, the answer remains up in the air for Chandler. First, this is how he explained his timeline to Pro Insight back in May:
“I’m not going to narrow my list again, but I’m trying to see how this all plays out because I plan to take five official visits to all of my top five schools and go from there. That’s my plan, to wait, take my five officials in the fall, and then see when the best time for me to commit is.”
As we all know, life doesn’t always go as planned.
Chatting with Rivals insider Eric Bossi this week, Chandler made it seem as if he is struggling to come to terms with the likelihood that in-person visits are a pipe dream for the remainder of this calendar year, not to mention how farfetched it is to think those visits could coincide with programs’ packed-house home games:
“I want to take my official visits, go to games, and go to see the college coaches and speak to them in person. I don’t want to do virtual visits over the computer. If I have to I will, but I would rather go to the school with my family. It would be tough for me without visits because I want to take my visits in the fall and go from there.”
The interviewer, Bossi, wasn’t able to decipher a specific timeline out of those statements from Chandler.
Finally, even though all the folks at Rivals and 247Sports are apparently pretty much in agreement over the heralded point guard eventually choosing Tennessee, Bossi pointed out one possibly telling observation from his talk with Chandler:
“Chandler himself would not tip his hand in regard to any leader.”
