Shifts in Duke basketball recruiting pursuits call for an updated forecast.

The past month has come with significant changes on the 2021 Duke basketball recruiting front. The reclass and G League commitment from now-2020 grad Jonathan Kuminga. The pledge to Michigan State from Max Christie, once seen as a Blue Devil lean. The offer from Mike Krzyzewski to small forward Caleb Houstan, who has since reclassed from 2022 to 2021.

On top of all that, several predictions and/or perceptions among insiders concerning Duke’s 2021 efforts look much different than they did back in June. But as is the case each passing year, with each month that passes, prophesized destinations for the next crop of recruits become more and more accurate.

To date, the Duke basketball recruiting team has extended eight offers to prospects who currently consider themselves members of the 2021 class. Of those, two have already announced their college choices. Across those two races, the staff in Durham batted .500 by snagging five-star small forward AJ Griffin roughly eight months ago and then losing Christie to Tom Izzo & Co. two weeks ago.
