Ex-Duke basketball forward Jack White signs with Melbourne United
Former Duke basketball power forward Jack White has signed a professional contract with the Melbourne United in the Australia NBL.
All signs pointed to former Duke basketball forward Jack White heading home and playing professional basketball in Australia, and that’s exactly what he will be doing.
On Tuesday night, the official announcement came from the Australia NBL of White’s signing with Melbourne United.

The former Duke captain signed with SIG Sports following the cancelation of the ACC and NCAA Tournaments, a sports agency that mostly represents foreign-born players.
White played in 30 of a possible 31 games this season for Duke, and in his senior campaign, he averaged 3.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 38.8 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from 3-point range.
The 6-foot-7 forward barely saw the floor in his freshman and sophomore seasons but proved his worth on the defensive end during his junior season and continued that strong play into his senior year.
A Traralgon, Australia native, the 22-year old will sign a three-year deal with Melbourne United. White won a bronze medal last summer with Team Australia in the World University Games.

Melbourne United has played a handful of preseason games in the United States of America against NBA teams and most recently lost in the semifinals to the Sydney Kings in the NBL.
The franchise last won the NBL Championship in the 2017-18 season.
Because of the lingering coronavirus pandemic around the world, the start time of the 2020-21 season is still pending, and no schedule has been released.

Jack White’s former head coach Mike Krzyzewski commented on the signing of his former player in his home country, and the Hall of Fame coach could have been happier for his four-year player and captain.
Jack White will certainly be a force in the rotation for Melbourne United and will make fans very happy with his tenacious play and hard-nosed attitude on the court.
