4. RETIREMENT QUESTIONS

Technically, five-time national champ Mike Krzyzewski has a lifetime contract to coach the Blue Devils, and rightly so. That said, his current agreement expires after this upcoming season, meaning he would need to renegotiate a new deal at the age of 74 and after 41 years at the helm.

At that point, will Coach K be willing to sign on for several more years? Will he just take it one season at a time from there on out? Or will the Hall of Famer just call it quits next spring?

More importantly at the moment, though, how is Krzyzewski answering the above questions when recruits and their families are the ones asking them? Because, surely, they are. Whatever he and his cohorts tell them, do they believe it? Or do they tell themselves that he would say the same thing regardless of his actual intentions?

Well, without having a way to clear up all those unknowns, we’ll just leave it at that, acknowledging that it could be a contributing factor to Duke’s recent recruiting slump. Time for the next fact that may be in play…
