Brother of recent Duke basketball player sparks recruiting interest
By Matt Giles
It’s possible the Duke basketball staff could reach out to another Reddish.
Somehow, Wheeler (Ga.) rising senior Aaron Reddish has flown under the radar. Or maybe the unrated 2021 prospect has flown over it (as his highlights suggest). Either way, despite being the brother of recent Duke basketball one-and-done and current Atlanta Hawks rookie Cam Reddish, the 6-foot-7 small forward doesn’t appear anywhere on any of the major recruiting sites.

But according to Ascension Sports owner Fredrick Cannon, at The Tipoff Classic last week in Suwanee, Ga., the younger Reddish impressed enough eyes to see his recruitment suddenly get off the ground:
“The versatile lefty wing has been contacted by multiple schools this week. Expect this initial interest to turn into scholarship offers Really Quickly.”

Cannon also noted that one reason Reddish hasn’t drawn much attention until now might be his transfer prior to last season from Westtown School (Pa.), where Cam Reddish starred to the tune of a No. 2 ranking on the 247Sports 2018 Composite. Evidently, the family followed the former Blue Devil to Georgia after he became the No. 10 overall pick at the 2019 NBA Draft.
Right now, there isn’t much tape out there on Aaron Reddish other than the block above and the slam below. However, Horace Neysmith of AllMetroHoops also came away from the AAU event believing the athlete is, at the very least, worth keeping an eye on:
“Add Atlanta Celtics 2021 6-7 F Aaron Reddish to the D1 watchlist. Long, active player. Showed bright spots today. Made some instinctive moves in transition, defended…active on the glass.”
While nobody has mentioned the coaches in Durham as pursuers of Reddish, it is reasonable to think they may eventually inquire about the budding talent — assuming Cam hasn’t already filled them in — particularly if a few of their current targets wind up elsewhere.
What the 2021 Duke basketball radar looks like at the moment
The five recruits from Aaron Reddish’s class still pondering Duke offers are all five-stars: point guard Kennedy Chandler, shooting guard Trevor Keels, small forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., power forward Paolo Banchero, and center Charles Bediako.
