Ranking six forwards on the 2020-21 Duke basketball team: Jaemyn Brakefield

In a strange way, the versatility of Jaemyn Brakefield could work against him in terms of finding heavy playing time as a Blue Devil rookie. Sure, the four-star recruit from West Virginia will arrive at Duke with a proven jumper, a strong mid-range game, a decent array of post moves, and all the makings of an impressive all-around athlete. However, Mike Krzyzewski is bound to overlook him from time to time because of the fact he doesn’t perfectly fit any one position.

Plus, though possibly baseless based solely on the available mixtapes, one knock on Brakefield from some recruiting analysts has been his alleged tendency to take plays off. Those rumors aside, though, it’s clear that, when given the chance, the power forward — as he is listed, anyway — should provide significant contributions in several areas for the 2020-21 Blue Devils.

Predicted production next season for Jaemyn Brakefield (four key averages): 6.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.8 blocks, 0.8 steals
