Duke basketball legend Zion Williamson is set to be the face of the video game NBA 2K21.

The legend of Zion Williamson continues to grow as the former Duke star appears to be the face of the video game NBA 2K21.

A video surfaced on Twitter on Thursday afternoon highlighting the features of Williamson as the game was promoting its new graphics as new gaming systems, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, were just introduced.

While it was not announced nor implied if the current star of the New Orleans Pelicans will be the cover athlete of the game, it’s very clear that Zion Williamson will have a major impact and presence on the ever-popular basketball video game.

If Williamson is eventually named as the cover athlete of NBA 2K21, he would only join Kyrie Irving as former Duke basketball players to grace the cover as Irving, then with the Boston Celtics, graced the cover in the 2K18 edition.

Irving is also the only former Blue Devil to be on the cover of NBA Live and did so in 2014 while he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Zion Williamson would be the youngest athlete ever to be on the cover of an NBA 2K video game if the company does put the future All-Star on its cover, surpassing Chris Paul who ironically was with the same franchise, then named the New Orleans Hornets.

While the NBA is planning to resume its suspended season in Orlando at the end of July, Williamson has only played 19 games in his NBA career, averaging 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game as the New Orleans Pelicans are in striking distance to reach the Western Conference Playoffs.

The Pelicans are currently tied for ninth place with the Portland Trail Blazers, three and a half games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the coveted eighth spot.
