The Duke football program has extended an offer to a multi-sport athlete who resides in the state of North Carolina.

Imagine an athlete that plays for David Cutcliffe, Mike Krzyzewski, and Chris Pollard.

It’s extremely unlikely, but Duke has offered a Class of 2022 prospect that stars in football, baseball, basketball, and track at East Surry High School in North Carolina.

The Duke football program extended a scholarship to Benjamin Gosnell, a 6-foot-3, 223-pound tight end and outside linebacker.

A Pilot Mountain, North Carolina native, Gosnell is a four-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 218 prospect in the rising junior class, according to 247 Sports.

The recruiting-based site lists the versatile athlete only as a tight end, and he’s the No. 5 tight end in his class and the No. 9 prospect in the state of North Carolina.

There is no shortage of recognition for Benji Gosnell as he holds offers from Florida, Georgia, Louisville, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia, among many others.

However, perhaps the most prestigious and impressive offer that Gosnell has pulled in came last week when Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes offered the tight end.

Gosnell has taken two unofficial visits to North Carolina and one visit to North Carolina State, but no other visits have been documented by the four-star.

Duke tight end Noah Gray will be entering his senior season in 2020, and the Blue Devils have already signed Cole Finney in its 2020 recruiting class, and the program still has five outstanding offers to tight ends in the Class of 2021 despite not having a commit at the position in its 11-man class.

The offer to Benji Gosnell is the fifth to tight end from Duke in the Class of 2022, and it certainly would be interesting to see if a four-star football player could be a multi-sport athlete in Durham.
