Duke basketball stars who could’ve starred in football: WR Gerald Henderson
Sticking with the theme of memorable bloody noses between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels, one might guess that Gerald Henderson did Art Heyman proud in 2007 by conveniently lowering his fist at just right the midair moment to squarely meet Tyler Hansbrough’s face.
The kerfuffle Henderson created by popping Hansbrough — opinions range from purely incidental to somewhat intentional to deserving imprisonment to deserving a monument — just proves he was more than a high-flying act. Add that apparent thirst for blood to his quick, bouncy 6-foot-5 frame, and one should be able to visualize an alternate past when such a dual-sport All-ACC performer would have scratched and clawed his way to his fair share of touchdown receptions.
